BTFC women’s team kicks off the metro competition season

After months of anticipation, BTFCs women’s team has finally kicked off the Metro competition season.

Comprising of women of various ages and skills, the team is united in their commitment to have fun and try their best to bring home a trophy.

This year’s competition holds special significance for Football Queensland, which is striving to achieve its targets set out in the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. The Participants and Clubs pillar aims to ensure that football in Queensland remains accessible to all, as the organization works towards achieving equal gender participation by 2027.

Kate Lawson, the Senior Manager of Game Development at Football Queensland, shared her excitement about the upcoming season: “With the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ coming to home soil later this year, it is such an exciting time to get involved in the game, boost confidence, build fitness and make friends. The season will be a fantastic opportunity for our female participants to get a taste of football.”

Indeed, the Metro competition season promises to be one of the best yet, with teams battling it out for promotion to the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland or fighting to avoid relegation to FQPL 2. For the BTFC women’s team, this season represents a chance to showcase their skills, build camaraderie, and represent their club with pride.

As the season gets underway, the BTFC women’s team is raring to go. With a mix of experience and enthusiasm, they are eager to take on their opponents and make their mark on the competition. Whether they win or lose, they know that they will have the support of their fellow club members and the wider football community.

So, let us wish the BTFC women’s team the best of luck as they embark on their football journey. May they continue to have fun, play hard, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
