Committee member spotlight: Alisha Thorley, Registrar

Alisha’s journey with BTFC
Alisha started her journey with the club when her niece and nephew joined as players in 2019. She was impressed with the club’s friendly and welcoming atmosphere and wanted to give back by volunteering her time and skills to the club.

Alisha’s role at BTFC
As the Club Registrar, Alisha’s role is a busy one that involves processing each and every registration within the club. This includes the Committee members, coaches, team managers, and most importantly, the players (seniors, juniors, and miniroos). Alisha’s dedication and hard work ensure that everything runs smoothly and that the club is able to continue growing.

What sets BTFC apart from other clubs
For Alisha, it’s the members that set BTFC apart from other clubs. The club is like a large extension of her family, and seeing all the smiling faces of the players as they catch up with their teammates is a heartwarming experience. The sense of community and camaraderie within the club is truly unique.

Balancing committee responsibilities with other commitments
Being a committee member at BTFC is a juggling act, and often involves late nights and early mornings. Alisha admits that she often is sending emails at “silly o’clock” in the morning to all involved. However, the satisfaction of helping the club grow and providing a great experience for the players makes it all worth it.

Proudest moment with the club
Alisha’s proudest moment with the club was seeing all the excited faces of the players and the looks of relief on the parents’ faces when the soccer competition could restart after Covid lockdown. It was a challenging time for everyone, but being able to provide some normalcy and fun for the players and families was a rewarding experience.

Alisha’s message to club members and players
Alisha’s message to all club members and players is a simple one: THANK YOU! She is grateful for everyone’s dedication and hard work, and hopes that everyone enjoys their games, has fun, and builds new friendships that will last a lifetime. She also encourages everyone to donate their time to give back to the club and help it continue to grow.

Final thoughts
With amazing committee members, volunteers, and players, BTFC is continuing to build a place that is friendly and welcoming to everyone. Alisha is excited about the club’s growth moving forward, and is already looking forward to the next AGM where she will surely put her hand up again for the role of Club Registrar.
