Committee member spotlight: Jody Schoeller, Secretary

Jody’s journey with BTFC
Jody joined the BTFC Committee because she saw the potential for our club to become something great. She knows how important it is to offer a venue for kids to participate in soccer within our local area, and by volunteering her time, she knows we can work as a committee to provide a fantastic club for our kids and senior members to enjoy.

Jody’s role at BTFC
As Secretary, Jody works alongside the Club President and Committee to carry out administrative duties to enable our club and its members to function effectively. She’s often the club’s first point of contact for new members and provides a vital link between new and existing members, the club Committee, and Football QLD. Her organisation skills and keen interest in the club’s progress have definitely contributed to making her role a success since joining as Secretary.

What sets BTFC apart from other clubs
At BTFC, we’re proud to be an inclusive, community-based club. We welcome players of all ages and abilities to join our club. We currently have over 300 members from our local community who have come together to share their love of soccer.

Balancing committee responsibilities with other commitments
Balancing committee responsibilities with work and family life is definitely a juggling act, but with the support of the BTFC committee and my husband (Club President) Sam, we make it work.

As a busy mum of five children, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to balance it all, but I’m passionate about our club and making sure it runs smoothly. That’s why we work closely as a team to ensure every role is allocated to a member, which helps us prepare for the upcoming season. It’s all about communication, organisation and a shared vision for the club’s success.

Side note: We greatly admire Jody and Sam for their tireless dedication to the club, especially while juggling the responsibilities of a big family. It’s not uncommon to see them at the club on weekdays, either cleaning up or organising things for the next season. They truly go above and beyond, and we are grateful for all that they do.

Proudest moment with the club
This year, Jody introduced a Women’s Metro Team to BTFC, which is the first women’s team in over six years.

Although unfortunately Jody was injured during pre-season, but is excited to watch the teams progress and hopes they come home with a win or two!

Jody’s message to club members and players
Jody would like to thank the Committee, coaches, and volunteers for helping make BTFC what it is today. Our club is built on the tireless work of our dedicated volunteers and generous local sponsors. Get involved today–everyone has something valuable to contribute towards our club, and with the help of everyone, we can continue to improve and move forward as a club.

Final thoughts
As a club, we’re constantly growing, and we’ve almost tripled in registered members. Moving forward, Jody would like to see BTFC entering teams into more competitive divisions. Next year, we’re hoping to enter our first JPL team, which is super exciting for our players and us!
